It’s now official — Jack Monaghan has received a four-year suspension from CrossFit competition, following his failed drug test at the 2024 Torian Pro for PED Use. The news comes after a week of speculation, admissions, and a wave of reaction across the CrossFit community.
Earlier this month, Monaghan publicly acknowledged on Instagram that he had knowingly taken 3a-hydroxy-2a-methyl-5a-androstan-17-one, a metabolite of drostanolone, a banned anabolic agent. The confession came after CrossFit initially flagged him for a positive drug test, prompting a short-lived appeal.
Four-Year Ban Confirmed by CrossFit
CrossFit has now formally concluded the appeal process, issuing Monaghan a full four-year competition ban — effective immediately and lasting until June 1, 2029.
A Fall from the Top
Monaghan had recently made waves with an impressive 6th-place finish at the 2024 Torian Pro, one of Oceania’s premier CrossFit competitions. His performance had positioned him as a rising name in the sport — until the drug test results surfaced.
Why This Matters for the CrossFit Community
This case marks yet another high-profile CrossFit PED violation, highlighting the ongoing battle against performance-enhancing drug use in the sport. As CrossFit continues to enforce strict anti-doping policies, the message is clear: cheating has long-term consequences.
